Goals

Updated: Dec 27, 2023

There are two types of Goals to consider - Intrinsic and Extrinsic.

Intrinsic goals are personal (internal), and are valued for their own sake.

Personal growth, meaningful relationships, self-fulfillment, and a sense of purpose for example.

Extrinsic Goals, on the other hand, are those that are derived from external sources and are associated with status, power, and material possessions.

Examples of extrinsic values include wealth, fame, and prestige.

They are both necessary for a successful, sustainable, ambitious career - however the science and data confirms the intrinsic goals are what create a greater level of life satisfaction.

Extrinsic are usually defined by the world, and Intrinsic by ourselves.

We need to be super conscious that both need our Focus and Efforts, neither can be neglected, and connot be assessed by the same parameters.

"the most important things cannot be measured."
